Happy Ussher Day 6027!

Happy Ussher Day 6027!

This post celebrates Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024; which according to the calculations of Bishop Ussher, is exactly 6027 years since the creation of the world. It is also the day before October 24th, 2024; which according to my records, is the 13th birthday of my two cats, Charles and Katniss. So I am the proud ownee of two Kozmik Katz.

I plan to light a candle, sing “happy birthday, dear world”, tell it to make a wish, and hold the candle in front of an open window so wind can blow it out. The Kozmik Katz will get new cat toys.

There are individual bristlecone pines provably older than 6027 years, so I don’t take Ussher’s calculations seriously. The universe is more like 13,800,000,000 years old; but the exact calendar date of the Big Bang is indefinite, due to the relativity of time-rates. Pick any day of the year, including leap-day, and the Big Bang occurred on that day in some reference frame. (Hour and minute are also adjustable; see my blog entries of October 23, 24 and 27, 2011.) So the birthday party might as well be on October 23, at any time you please.

I ask the world to make a wish for novelty’s sake; for who ever asks the world for its wishes?

By the way, 6025  = 5*5*241, and 6026 = 2*23*131, and 6027 = 3*7*7*41, and 6028 = 2*2*11*137 , and 6029 is a prime.  Interpret this any way you wish!
