          “Anyhow”! O most willful of words!

          The criminal gang was warned not to do it. It was too risky, and it was wrong, morally and pragmatically. But they did it ‘anyhow’.

          The hero was warned not to do it. It was too risky, and he’ll never get credit for it. But he did it ‘anyhow’.

          Trump’s administration has done many things ‘anyhow’. I leave it to you which of the above two paragraphs applies.

          I started this essay having thought no further than here, but I started it ‘anyhow’.
